Welcome to MADYSS
In September 2004, MADYSS was developed from the Stroke Association's Family Support Unit at Macclesfield Hospital by a group of younger stroke survivors and their carers from within the borough of Macclesfield and its districts.
Our aim is to support both the stroke survivors and their carers by holding informal monthly meetings and social events.
Each stroke and each individual's response to their new circumstances are unique and the journey back to optimum health is often exceedingly difficult. However, with the right attitude and motivation, together with a fun environment and support from others who know the challenges and frustrations, we believe rehabilitation as possible.
MADYSS is open to any stroke survivor and carer who are looking to become part of a supportive community.

MESSAGE FROM OUR OUTGOING CHAIRMAN
As you know, I have decided to hand over the MADYSS Chairmanship. I was lucky with the timing. Recently, my health has been on the
decline and I would find it difficult to continue.
Being MADYSS Chairman for seven years has been an honour and a privilege. I have enjoyed doing the job and admit that I could not
have done it without the support of our excellent Committee. We are lucky to have such a resourceful, active willing and hard working
group of people. Thank you Anne, Diane, Judy, Julie, Kay, Michael, Monica, and Sue. A special thank you to Judy for stepping in to
rescue the Treasurer’s job. Thank you all very much for your support.
Thank you to all our helpers such as Kath, Geoff and Sheila, Janet Farrell, Richard Fleming and his team for all their hard work, and
thank you MADYSS members for supporting our activities and helping out when asked. A special thank you to my wife Julie who is going to
remain on the Committee, for her help and patience throughout my Chairmanship.
Between us we have managed to continue to run this pleasant, helpful and happy social group. Long may it continue! I shall miss this
honourable position.
Our nominated Chairman is John Swindell. I hope that you will all vote for him at the AGM. I am sure that John will do an outstanding job.
He has the necessary qualities for being an excellent Chairman. He is also extremely courageous for agreeing to take on the job.
Thank you John.
I hope that I shall be able to continue as a member of MADYSS for many years to come and continue to contribute and enjoy your
company and friendship.
Ike
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: Wednesday 11th May 2022:
Please note that the AGM for MADYSS will be held on Wednesday, 11 May this year rather than on the second Monday of the month.
It will take place at our usual venue, Macclesfield Tennis Club. Entry to the Club will be permitted from 12.45 pm so
please don't arrive before then. This will give everyone time to order drinks and find a seat before the business meeting starts
at 1.00 pm. A buffet lunch will be served after the AGM business is concluded.
MADYSS Meetings:
NOTE: There will be no meeting at the Flowerpot in May due the AGM.
The next Flower Pot meeting is on Monday 13th June 2022
